Niverville High School | Niverville, MB
Targeted LEED™ Silver
Niverville High School is a new 70,000 square foot facility designed to accommodate a student high school and a 74 unit childcare facility. The high school also includes a link providing access to a proposed town multiplex facility creating an educational, sporting and cultural campus for the community.
The new facility organizes functions along intersecting corridors that meets at a 2 storey gathering space the “central town square”. The learning commons visually and physically opens onto the town square providing a space for group collaboration, independent, study and peer directed media instruction as well as more traditional library services. The gymnasium, canteen, multi-purpose, drama and student services are all accessed from the central gathering space along with the general office providing security and supervision. Externally the learning commons, Childcare suit and covered links have views and access to the quadrangle . The quadrangle being formed by the High School, future multiplex and existing arena reinforces the facility campus for the community.
The building design is targeted to achieve a LEED™ Silver rating. Sustainable details and energy efficient design solutions are integrated seamlessly into the building fabric. Considerations including building orientation, spatial planning, selection of materials and mechanical and electrical systems were made for their positive environmental impact, and their contribution to a community based learning and recreation centre designed to foster growth and well being of all occupants.
