Kiddie Sunshine Childcare Centre | Altona, MB

Kiddie Sunshine Childcare Centre is currently being worked on by MCM. This daycare is a 10,525 square foot one-floor facility that is designed to accommodate 118 children (24 infants, 64 pre-school, and 30 School-age) and will provide before and after school care services. Kiddie Sunshine will include a staff occupancy of 20-24, has parking spaces for up to 25 staff and accommodations for a drop-off zone for up to 20 vehicles.

During this project MCM has explored materials and residential forms to create a flow of space where form, texture, and colour invite children to play, interact, and imagine. The interior of the facility includes an activities area in a large open concept room subdivided into smaller zones to accommodate small group and/or individual activity. Large open areas promote positive social interaction while supporting the experience to enjoy learning through play. Within those walls are windows varying in size and height to enhance the interior environment by allowing natural daylight to energize the space. The design facilitates growth in different areas of development including physical growth, social skills, emotional growth, verbal skills, cognitive ability and creativity.
